Saudi Post | SPL has issued a collection of commemorative postage stamps, each valued at three riyals, featuring elements of Saudi culinary arts. This initiative comes as part of SPL’s strategic partnership with the Ministry of Culture, aimed at strengthening the presence of Saudi culture in all its forms, enriching the user experience with cultural elements, and highlighting the Kingdom’s national heritage.
The designs of the new postage stamps feature the Kingdom’s national dish, "Jareesh," along with regional dishes: "Hassawi Rice" representing the Eastern Province, "Mulayhiyah" for the Northern Borders Region, "Haneeth" for the Asir Region, and "Saleeg" for the Makkah Region.
The Culinary Arts Commission contributed facts and figures about the rich heritage of Saudi culinary arts—registered with UNESCO—which reflects the significance of Saudi cuisine and its deep-rooted legacy that graces dining tables with diverse traditional dishes. This effort is part of the Commission’s work to promote Saudi culinary heritage locally and globally so that the Kingdom becomes a symbol of authentic culinary art, a home to remarkable gastronomic experiences, and a gateway for creativity and innovation.
It is worth noting that the postage stamps issued by Saudi Post | SPL reflect the most prominent national events, including religious, cultural, artistic, and sporting occasions, as well as key international events. Each stamp captures a significant moment or commemorates an iconic scene in Saudi history, making them an ideal choice for stamp collectors around the world, as well as for historians interested in documenting history.
